My dream of riding on a track was realized this summer as I entered a few track days to get a feel for what it's like. It turns out, I wasn't bad. My first day on the track, I turned 1:28's in the afternoon laps. The bike was a 1992 Suzuki GSX-R750 with 35k miles. The suspension was bone stock, with D208z street tires running 34,33 lbs. My best drive out of T9 resulted in a top speed of 154mph before having to grab some brake before T1. I was running street lines and it showed. I also did quite a bit of slowing prior to entering each turn, another street riding habit. The following 2 track days would be spent working on my entry speeds and getting off the bike a little more, before the bike was stolen the evening of August 19th.

The “new” bike is a 1999 Yamaha R6. Not new by any means, but it is faster and a better handling bike than the old oiler was. The bike qualifies as a super sport bike in that it hasn’t seen any engine modifications which would disqualify it for the OMRRA Supersport class. It has Ohlins shock and steering damper and rear shock. The suspension setup was done By Circuit1. The previous owner’s mechanic removed all the street parts to save weight including cutting off some of the un-necessary cable connectors, so converting it for street use has been a project. I decided to give up on converting it for street use and concentrated on preparing for my first novice season....
